Neville is the son of Noel Tata, the stepbrother of Tata Sons Chairman Emeritus Ratan Tata. Noel is the chairman of Trent Limited. Neville was earlier a non-executive director on the board of Trent Hypermarket. Trent Limited owns brands like Westside, Judio and Zara apart from the hypermarket unit Star Bazaar. Neville has been associated with Trent Limited since 2016. He managed Judio, which is one of the leading apparel brands in the country today. Neville may be made the CEO or Executive Director of the hypermarket in the coming days. In this retail industry, Neville will have a direct competition with Isha Ambani, who is handling the retail business of Reliance Industries under the leadership of her father Mukesh Ambani. Noel Tata’s daughters are also active in the Tata Group. To compete with Tata, Ambani is tying up with the Chinese company Shein. Apparel has a major share in retail, margins are also high. According to consulting firm Wazir Advisors, with an annual sales growth rate of 5%, India’s retail market will be worth Rs 14.26 lakh crore by 2026. Apparel will have the biggest share in this. Food and grocery are not included in this. With these, the retail market is estimated to be worth Rs 168 lakh crore by 2033. Right now it is worth Rs 69 lakh crore.
