Union Home Minister Amit Shah held a meeting in Delhi on Monday to end Naxalism. The Chief Ministers of 8 Naxal-affected states attended the meeting held at Vigyan Bhavan. Shah praised Chhattisgarh for its efforts to end Naxalism. He said that since January till now, 194 Naxalites have been killed in Chhattisgarh, 801 have been arrested and 742 have surrendered. In the meeting, Shah appealed to the Naxalite youth to give up arms and come to the mainstream. He gave the example of 13 thousand youths of North-East and Jammu and Kashmir who have left Naxalism. Shah said – Incidents of violence related to Naxalism have reduced
Amit Shah said that incidents of Naxalism-related violence have come down from 16,463 to 7,700. This number will decrease further next year. The death of civilians and security forces has decreased by 70%. The number of districts reporting violence has come down from 96 to 42. He said that the number of police stations reporting violence has come down from 465 to 171, out of which 50 police stations are new, that is, only 120 police stations are reporting violence. According to sources, just as terrorist funding was stopped in Jammu and Kashmir, a big action plan is being prepared to stop Naxalites. According to the report of the central government, there has been a 72% reduction in Naxal violence and 86% reduction in deaths in the country in 2023 as compared to the year 2010. This year 202 Naxalites have been killed in the country. With this, the number of Left Wing Extremism affected districts has come down to 38. Shah told about the Security Related Expenditure Scheme, in which there has been an increase of about Rs 2000 crore in the last 10 years. In 2004-2014, Rs 1180 crore was allocated for this, which increased to Rs 3,006 crore in 2014-2024. The Special Central Assistance Scheme has also allocated Rs 3,590 crore in the last decade. He said, before 2019, only two helicopters were deployed for the soldiers, but today this number has increased to 12. This includes six helicopters of the Border Security Force (BSF) and six helicopters of the Air Force, which are to help the soldiers. More than 15 thousand mobile towers installed in 10 years
The Home Minister also informed that 544 fortified police stations have been built in the last 10 years. Earlier the road network was 2,900 km, but in the last 10 years it has been increased to 11,500 km. During this period, 15,300 mobile towers have been installed, out of which 5139 towers have been given 4G connections. He said that before 2014, 38 Eklavya model schools were approved, but none of them were built. Now 216 schools have been approved, out of which 165 schools have been built. Shah further said, earlier nothing was spent on air campaign, but now Rs 1000 crore is being spent for air campaign. Rs 131 crore has been spent to build a trauma center in Jagdalpur. Shah said- Chhattisgarh government is doing better on the Naxal front Shah praised the Chhattisgarh government for the operation conducted on September 4. He said- The government is doing better work on the Naxal front. The Chhattisgarh government has started a new dimension of development. The government has also stopped the financial support of Naxalites. He said- The success achieved in Chhattisgarh is an inspiration for all of us. A new campaign of development has been started in all Naxal-affected areas. Its objective is to bring the benefits of the schemes of the state government and the central government to the people. As a result, schools and cheap grain shops have opened in the villages. Shah said – Some villagers voted in the Lok Sabha elections after 30 years. Since 2019, 280 new camps have been built, 15 new joint forces have been formed. Six new battalions of CRPF have been sent, which are helping the police in different states.
