National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah held Pakistan responsible for the Gulmarg terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir. He said on Friday, ‘Pakistan should stop violence and find a way to be friends with India.’ He said that instead of spreading unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan should focus on its own plight, work for its betterment. I have been seeing this for the last 30 years, innocent people are being killed in Jammu and Kashmir. Farooq said, ‘Attacks like Gulmarg will keep happening until India and Pakistan find a way to be friends. You know where they (terrorists) come from. This will not stop until a way out of this problem is found.’ In fact, more than 3 terrorists attacked the vehicle of 18 National Rifles late on Thursday night. In this, 2 porters and 3 soldiers were martyred. I apologize to the families of the martyrs.
Abdullah said that I pay tribute to the martyred soldiers and deceased porters of the Gulmarg attack. I apologize to their families. Abdullah was asked whether Pakistan is frustrated with the record turnout in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections, to which he said that I do not know what happened. He said that people voted in the assembly elections and now the assembly will work for the people. We hope that the Center will give full statehood so that the government can work for the people. On Omar Abdullah’s meeting with Union Home Minister Shah, Farooq said that coordination with the Center is needed to run the Jammu and Kashmir government. When I was the Chief Minister, I used to say every time that coordination is a good thing because everything is with them (Central Government). Former Jammu and Kashmir CM and National Conference President Farooq Abdullah had said on October 21 that if Islamabad (Pakistan) wants to have friendly relations with India, then it will have to stop terrorist incidents here. He had said that how can there be talks between the two countries? You (Pakistan) kill our innocent people and then ask for talks.
