The lifetime ban on captaincy imposed on Australian opener David Warner has been lifted. In 2018, Warner was banned for life by Cricket Australia from captaining any team in Australia. Now Cricket Australia’s Conduct Commission has reviewed the decision and decided to lift the ban on Warner. With the ban lifted, there are speculations about him captaining Sydney Thunders in the next BBL season. This ban was imposed on David Warner in 2018 for ball tampering in the Test match against South Africa. Apart from Warner, Steve Smith and Cameron Bancroft were also found guilty in the ball tampering case, who were banned from cricket for one year. Cricket Australia withdrew its decision
6 years after banning David Warner, Cricket Australia has withdrawn its decision. A press release was issued by Cricket Australia regarding this, in which it was told that on October 25, the 3-member panel of the Conduct Commission decided to lift the lifetime leadership ban imposed on Warner. The panel found that Warner meets the rules for lifting the ban as per the changes made in the Australian Cricket Code of Conduct in the year 2022. Appealed to captain in 2022
David Warner had appealed to withdraw the lifetime leadership ban imposed against him in 2018. Warner was so fed up with the ban imposed on him in 2022 that he withdrew the appeal. Now after waiting for 6 years, the ban on Warner from captaincy has finally been lifted. This ban on Warner was limited to Australia only.
