Bangladeshi Home Minister said- UN Peace-Keeping Force should be deployed in India: Counter attack on Mamata’s statement; Indian Foreign Secretary may visit Bangladesh next week

Amid rising tensions between India and Bangladesh, Bangladesh Home Minister Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has made an anti-India statement. Chowdhury said that the United Nations Peace Keeping Force should be deployed in India and not Bangladesh. His statement came after West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s demand to deploy Peace Keeping Force in Bangladesh, in which she appealed to PM Modi to personally intervene for the safety of Bangladesh’s minorities. Meanwhile, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri may visit Dhaka next week. According to media reports, Misri will participate in the Foreign Office Consultation (FOC) between the two countries on 9 and 10 December. This will be the first time that a senior Indian official will visit Bangladesh after the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government on 5 August. Bangladesh Foreign Advisor Tauhid Hussain said that the FOC was to be held on 10 December, but now it may be held on 9 December. Bangladeshi Foreign Secretary Mohammad Jashim Uddin will also attend the meeting. On India-Bangladesh relations, Tauheed said – It is clear that we want good relations with India. Both sides should work for this. According to media reports, bilateral talks can be held on issues related to Sheikh Hasina’s extradition and visa in the FOC meeting. However, the Indian Foreign Ministry has not confirmed it yet. Sheikh Hasina has a case going on in the Bangladesh International Crimes Tribunal. She is accused of genocide during the protests in July and August. After the fall of the government on August 5, she fled from there and came to India, which increased tension between the two countries. This tension has increased further after the recent arrest of Hindu religious guru Chinmay Krishna Das. Leaders of both countries meet every year. FOC is a high-level dialogue held every year between India and Bangladesh. In this, talks are held between the two countries on visa, policy, trade and other issues. Last year, this meeting was held in Delhi on 24 November. The then Foreign Secretary Vijay Mohan Kwatra from India and Masood Bin Momen from Bangladesh participated in it. In this, issues like border security, trade and strengthening relations between India and Bangladesh were discussed. At that time it was decided that the next meeting would be held in Bangladesh. Ban on Hasina’s address in Bangladesh Former Bangladeshi Sheikh Hasina virtually addressed a conference in New York on Sunday. In this address, Hasina attacked Chief Advisor Mohammad Yunus accusing him of genocide. Now the International Criminal Tribunal of Bangladesh has banned this address of Hasina. In its order, the tribunal has asked to remove Hasina’s address from media and social media platforms. Now Hindu youth arrested on alleged charges of blasphemy. Despite the claims of the Yunus government in Bangladesh, attacks on Hindus and minorities are not stopping. Late on Tuesday night, a mob of fundamentalists attacked the houses of Hindus in Sumanganj district. The mob alleged that a Hindu youth had blasphemed in a Facebook post. The riotous mob vandalised more than 100 Hindu homes and also destroyed the places of worship in the homes. Hindu shops were also looted. Due to this, all 200 Hindu families fled late Tuesday night. The police have arrested Akash Das (20) of Mangalargaon in Sumanganj on charges of blasphemy. Paramilitary forces have also been deployed in Sumanganj on Wednesday. The Hindu families who have migrated from Mangalargaon are taking shelter in the homes of relatives in Dholpushi. Suman (name changed) said on the phone that we are not coming out of our homes because there is a danger of attack here. When the three were asked for their passports, they could not show them. After this, all three were arrested.
