Extortion from 700 women by creating fake IDs: Enticed them into talking, asked for private photos on Bumble-Snapchat, threatened to make them viral; arrested from Delhi

A case of online extortion of 700 women has come to light in Delhi. Police on Friday arrested a man who trapped women through dating apps and threatened to make their pictures viral. His name is Tushar Singh Bisht and he is a technical recruiter in a private company in Noida. Police said that 23-year-old Tushar, a resident of Delhi, created fake profiles by feeding virtual international mobile numbers on Bumble, WhatsApp and Snapchat. He described himself as a freelance model from America. To create the profile, he uploaded pictures of a Brazilian model. After this, he befriended 500 women on Bumble and about 200 women on WhatsApp-Snapchat. As soon as the women trusted Tushar, he asked for private photos from the women. When the women called him to meet, he threatened to make the pictures viral and sell them on the dark web. DU student complained to cyber police, then the matter was exposed A second year student of a college of Delhi University matched with Tushar on Bumble in January 2024. Tushar gradually befriended the student. Then both of them shared private pictures with each other. The student thought Tushar was an American model. He messaged Tushar and asked him to meet. Tushar was avoiding meeting. Tushar threatened to make the pictures viral and asked for money. Initially, the student gave some money. Tushar did not agree even then. He asked for more money. Fed up, the student complained to the cyber police station on 13 December 2024. The accused was arrested within 20 days of filing the complaint On December 13, the Cyber ??Police Station of West Delhi formed a team under the supervision of ACP Arvind Yadav. Cyber ??experts kept an eye on Tushar’s activity and he was arrested after a raid in Shakarpur. During the arrest, the police recovered a mobile phone, which had objectionable data. Details of a virtual international mobile number and 13 credit cards of different banks were also recovered. Police also recovered chat records with 60 women from Delhi from Tushar’s phone. Investigation revealed that apart from the complainant, at least four other women were also extorted by Tushar in a similar fashion.
