40 people were injured in clashes between security forces and protesters on Saturday, the first day of free traffic movement in Manipur. Normal movement was started in all areas of the state from March 8, which was opposed by the people of the Kuki community. Officials said that an indefinite shutdown has been called by Kuki-Zo groups against the action of the security forces on Saturday. An official of Kangpokpi district said that additional security forces have been deployed in Gamghiphi and other parts along NH-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road). Vehicles are being patrolled to ensure law and order. ITLF supported the indefinite shutdown
The Kuki-Jo organization Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum (ITLF) has supported the indefinite shutdown called by the Kuki-Jo Council (KZC).
