A meeting of the Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas was organized at Hotel ITC Grand Bharat, Manesar, Gurugram. In the meeting, Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri discussed with the top officials of the country’s major petroleum companies about making the country self-reliant in terms of energy. The main focus of the discussion was to ensure the supply of petroleum products, make their prices affordable for the general public, remove disparities in regional infrastructure and promote India’s self-reliance in the energy sector. Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that the Government of India is working rapidly towards self-reliance and stability in the energy sector. He said that development of infrastructure is necessary to meet the increasing demand for petroleum products. Oil prices have to be controlled He said that the government’s goal is not only to ensure the supply of oil, but also to control its prices, so that the general public is not burdened. Taking the suggestions received from the MPs seriously, he said that an action plan will be prepared to implement them immediately. LPG access should be increased in rural areas Minister of State Suresh Gopi said that the ministry is committed to increasing the access of LPG in rural areas and removing regional infrastructure disparities. He mentioned initiatives like the Ujjwala Yojana, under which free gas connections have been given to poor families, and said that such schemes will be made more effective. Emphasis on reducing prices MPs expressed their views on many important issues in the meeting. These included making fuel prices affordable, removing infrastructure deficiencies at the regional level, and strengthening India’s long-term strategy in the energy sector. Some MPs also raised the problems in the supply of petrol and diesel in rural areas. The ministry officials noted the suggestions of the MPs and assured that action would be taken on these issues as soon as possible.
