A case of dowry harassment and assault of Mangalaura’s daughter in Delhi has come to light in Karnal. The victim alleges that a few days after the marriage, the in-laws started taunting her by saying that they have embarrassed the society by giving a small car in their son’s wedding, while they wanted a big car Fortuner. It is alleged that the in-laws repeatedly demanded dowry and tortured the woman mentally and physically. When the woman became pregnant, a test was conducted against her will to know whether the child was a daughter or a son. When it was found that there was a girl in the womb, she was further tortured and then thrown out of the house. After investigating the whole matter, the police have registered a case against 4 people. The marriage took place in 2022 The daughter of Mangalaura village in Karnal district was married to Kapil, a resident of Delhi, on 5 November 2022 in a hotel in Karnal according to Hindu customs. Before marriage, the mother-in-law had told that the boy does B.Tech and works in a good company. On this trust, the family gave dowry beyond their capacity. A Baleno car was also given, the list of which the married woman has said she will present. Your mother has disrespected us, we want a Fortuner. The woman said that when she reached her in-laws’ house in Ganesh Nagar Delhi four-five days after the marriage, her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law started taunting her. It was said that your mother has shamed us in the society by giving a small car. The proposals that gave a Fortuner were rejected. After this, husband Kapil also started asking for a Fortuner or money worth an equivalent amount. The victim got her pregnancy tested without her consent. The victim told that when she became pregnant, far from providing good food, the family members started taunting her on every small thing. Before that her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law kept taking her to different doctors for medical tests and it was said that she is incapable of even producing an heir. ???????In the first week of February 2024, sister-in-law Sweety, who is an MBBS doctor, and mother-in-law Sunita took her to Ghaziabad. An ultrasound was forcibly done by a known doctor, which revealed that there was a girl in the womb. After this, her harassment increased even more. Kicked out of the house, no one came even after giving birth to a daughter. The woman said that on 28 February 2024, the victim was thrown out of the house saying that she would not be allowed to enter the house until she brings a Fortuner. While living in her maternal home, she gave birth to a daughter on 19 March 2024 in Madhu Chaudhary Hospital, Karnal. Despite giving information, no one from her in-laws’ house came to see or pick her up. Her parents reached the Panchayat twice, in-laws broke the promise. The woman said that in August 2024, her parents took the Panchayat twice and talked to her in-laws in Ganesh Nagar, Delhi. There all the culprits accepted their mistake and promised to bring back the daughter and daughter-in-law in 10 days, but till date the promise has not been fulfilled. They clearly said that they will not take them into the house until a bigger vehicle is brought. On the complaint of the victim, the case was found to be true after investigation by the Women’s Police Station, Karnal. After receiving the complaint from the Superintendent of Police Karnal’s office, a case has been registered today at the Madhuban Police Station. The police is investigating the matter.
