The Delhi High Court on Thursday reprimanded Delhi Public School, Dwarka for suspending 31 students for not paying fees. A single bench of Justice Sachin Dutta said that children cannot be threatened for not paying school fees. Such actions are equivalent to mental harassment and hurt the self-esteem of students. According to news agency ANI, the court said, ‘School is not just a means of earning. Its first purpose is to educate children and develop moral values, not to act as a commercial enterprise. Even though the school charges fees for its services, it cannot be considered equal to a commercial institution.’ Actually, the whole matter is related to DPS located in Dwarka, Delhi. On 9 May 2025, DPS had struck off the names of 32 children for not paying fees. When these children reached school on May 13, 4 male and two female bouncers checked their IDs and sent them back.
