After 25 years, India’s iconic daily soap Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is returning with its original cast. Politician-actress Smriti Irani is making her comeback to the acting world after a long gap as Tulsi Virani. Smriti’s first look from the show has been leaked. Though the release date of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi 2 has not been revealed yet, the first promo of the show is all set to release tonight at 10 pm. In the viral photo, Smriti is seen wearing a maroon coloured saree. She completed her look with a signature big red bindi, traditional jewellery, black beaded mangalsutra and hair tied in a bun. This look is similar to her overall look. Talking about reprising her iconic role, Smriti said in a press note, “Coming back to Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi is not just returning to a role but a return to a story that redefined Indian television. Redefined my own life. It gave me more than commercial success. It gave me the opportunity to connect with millions of homes, to find a place in the emotional fabric of a generation. Over the last 25 years, I have worked on two powerful platforms – media and public policy, each with its own impact. Each field demands a different kind of commitment.’ She further said – ‘Today, I stand at a crossroads where experience meets emotion and creativity meets faith. I am coming back not only as an actor, but also as a person who believes in the power of storytelling to bring about change, preserve culture and create empathy. By contributing to this next chapter, I hope to honor the legacy of Kyunki and help shape a future where India’s creative industry will not only be respected, but also truly empowered.’ After Smriti’s look as Tulsi was revealed, fans are reacting to it. A user on X wrote, ‘Tulsi is back! Smriti Irani’s return to the screen will definitely bring back old memories and take her popularity sky-rocketing. Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi Se Sansad Tak Ka Journey Hai!’ Another user wrote- ‘Iconic… can’t wait to see her again in the role of Tulsi.’ Let us tell you that Smriti is making a comeback on screen after 15 years. She has also been the Minister of Women and Child Development after quitting acting and joining politics. Recently, during a conversation with Barkha Dutt and Karan Johar in an episode of We The Women In London, she revealed that the sequel was planned 10 years ago. Produced in the year 2000 under the banner of Balaji Telefilms, Ekta Kapoor’s show was very popular among the audience. The show ran for eight years and dominated the TRP charts most of the time. Recently, the show completed 25 years. On the occasion of Silver Jubilee, Smriti shared an emotional post on Instagram and told how the show influenced the lives of people.
