Priyanka became emotional remembering her daughter’s birth: She explained that she had to hastily announce Malti’s birth, and her mantras became a source of support during difficult times.

Priyanka Chopra recently became emotional while recalling the birth of her daughter, Malti Mary, born via surrogacy. The actress also revealed that it was a very difficult and traumatic time for her personally. At the same time, she received a message announcing the birth of her baby girl. She explained that she had wanted to share the news herself at the right time, but due to leaks, she had to make a hasty public announcement. She explained that she was unprepared at the time because the baby’s health was unclear. She explained that her daughter was born at 27 weeks and spent over 100 days in the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). During that difficult time, she quietly chanted mantras like the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra near her for mental support. Priyanka explained that the baby’s condition was critical at birth. “She looked purple,” she said. It was a difficult time for the actress and her husband, Nick Jonas, and they admitted it was one of the most challenging periods of their lives. This was during the COVID-19 pandemic, so hospital rules were strict. Initially, visitation was limited.

Priyanka explained that the baby was very small. Nurses had to be extra careful during medical procedures. The actress said she felt numb in the initial hours. The surrogate’s recovery was fine, but she was still trying to understand the situation. The actress also shared that many people were praying for the baby. She said that Malti’s arrival in this world was not easy. During her treatment, the baby required multiple medical support and six blood transfusions. Why did they chant mantras in the NICU? During her stay in the NICU, Priyanka and Nick Jonas spent shifts. They tried to ensure the baby wasn’t alone. Nick Jonas would sometimes sing songs on the guitar. Priyanka kept an iPod near the baby, playing mantras like the Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, the Gayatri Mantra, and Om Namah Shivaya in soft volume. She said this provided mental support and helped her maintain focus and balance. Priyanka explained that initially, only one person was allowed to visit her at a time in the hospital. She described the baby’s first call as very soft. “It was soft, like a cat’s,” she said. Doctors provided various medical support. The baby also received blood transfusions. During this time, both of them put their professional work on hold to be with the baby in the hospital. Priyanka said she tried to stay strong. “Fearing or breaking down wasn’t an option. I had to be present as a mother,” she said. On the work front, Priyanka Chopra is currently promoting her film “The Bluff,” which released on Prime Video on February 25.
