Microsoft accused of removing Palestine-Gaza words from internal mail: Free Palestine slogans raised in Satya Nadella’s speech; Opposition to selling AI technology to Israel

American company Microsoft has been accused of removing words like ‘Palestine’, ‘Gaza’ and ‘genocide’ from the internal mail of employees. This step was taken when an engineer of the company raised slogans of Free Palestine during the speech of CEO Satya Nadella on Monday. A Microsoft engineer, while sharing the mail, has accused the company of supporting Israel by filtering words like genocide. Actually, some employees of the company are opposing the sale of AI technology to the Israeli army. They allege that the Israeli army is using technology for genocide in Gaza. Indian-origin Vanya Agarwal protested again On the third day of Microsoft Build Conference 2025, Indian-origin Vanya Agarwal interrupted the session of the company’s AI security chief Neta Habi and raised slogans against cloud agreements with the Israeli government. Vanya attended the event as a former employee and activist. Another former Microsoft employee, Hossam, was also with him. Vanya and Hossam disturbed Habi’s session and said, ‘Microsoft, blood money will not work’. The protesters say that Microsoft’s AI-cloud services being provided to the Israeli government and army are being used in war crimes in Gaza. Vanya had said in an interview to BBC, tech companies cannot turn a blind eye to human rights. Vanya left the company after the first protest. Earlier, Vanya had protested at Microsoft’s 50th Foundation Day event. In the session of CEO Satya Nadella, Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, he had said that Microsoft is selling AI weapons to Israel, due to which 50,000 people have been killed. After this, he resigned on 11 April. Vanya called the company a “digital weapon manufacturer” in his resignation. He said, Microsoft’s tech is promoting genocide. Then Vanya had written that Microsoft AI technology is being used in Israel’s military actions. This is a violation of human rights. Vanya is associated with the No Azure for Apartheid group. Vanya is associated with the ‘No Azure for Apartheid’ group. This group has been protesting against Microsoft’s selling of technology to the Israeli army during the Israel-Palestine war. This controversy has intensified after the death of more than 34,000 people in Gaza.
