Siddaramaiah said- Home Minister’s statement is not trustworthy: BJP is using delimitation as a weapon; Shah is creating confusion

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Thursday that the BJP is using delimitation as a weapon to silence the southern states. Home Minister Amit Shah’s statement is not trustworthy. In fact, Shah had said on February 26 that not a single parliamentary seat of the southern states will be reduced due to delimitation. Siddaramaiah said that if the central government really wants fairness for the southern states, then the Home Minister should tell whether the delimitation will be based on population or on the current number of Lok Sabha seats. If the delimitation is done according to population, it will be a grave injustice to the southern states. Lok Sabha seats in the southern states will either be reduced or there will be no increase in them. Whereas the northern states will get more seats. Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka will be reduced from 28 to 26. Similarly, seats in Andhra Pradesh will be reduced from 42 to 34, Kerala from 20 to 12 and Tamil Nadu from 39 to 31. At the same time, the number of Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh will increase from 80 to 91, in Bihar from 40 to 50 and in Madhya Pradesh from 29 to 33. If this is not injustice then what is. Shah had said – after delimitation, the seats of the southern state will not be reduced. Now know the questions related to this delimitation and their answers… What is delimitation? Delimitation means the process of deciding the limit of Lok Sabha or assembly seat. A commission is formed for delimitation. Earlier also commissions have been formed in 1952, 1963, 1973 and 2002. The delimitation process regarding Lok Sabha seats will start from 2026. In such a situation, there is a possibility of increase of about 78 seats in the 2029 Lok Sabha elections. The southern states have opposed population based delimitation. Therefore, the government will move towards proportional delimitation, in which a framework is being prepared to maintain population balance. What will be the framework of delimitation? Before the Delimitation Commission, the government has started working on the framework. The existing system of representation will not be tampered with, rather a broader framework is being considered keeping in mind the demographic balance. What will be the proportional representation?

Tamil Nadu-Puducherry have 40 Lok Sabha seats. If Uttar Pradesh increases 14 seats from the current 80 seats, then increasing half of it, i.e. 7 seats in Tamil Nadu-Puducherry, is proportional representation. That is, population is not the only option to increase seats. The number of seats that increase in the Hindi belt on the basis of population will also increase in the same proportion in the states that control population. In one Lok Sabha, there will be one MP for a population of 20 lakhs, while in another place there will be one MP for a population of 10-12 lakhs. What will happen to the minority dominated seats?

In the 85 Lok Sabha seats of the country, the population of minorities ranges from 20% to 97%. According to sources, Lok Sabha constituencies can be drawn afresh under delimitation to maintain demographic balance on these seats. What will happen after women reservation?
The number of Lok Sabha seats has been kept frozen since 1977, but now after giving 33% reservation to women, it is necessary to defreeze it. States which have effectively controlled the population growth rate have warned that there will be protest against the reduction in their seats on this basis. ——————————————————– Read this news related to delimitation too… 888 seats in new Lok Sabha, southern states worried; If delimitation happens, 84% seats will increase in Hindi speaking states. 888 MPs will be able to sit in the Lok Sabha of the new Parliament.
