Shoojit Sarkar said on Bollywood films getting flopped: ‘Filmmakers are not taking risks, big stars will have to reduce their fees’

Director Shoojit Sarkar has talked about Bollywood films not doing well. In an interview, he told what is going wrong in Hindi cinema, due to which the films of big stars are flopping. Talking to ANI, Sarkar said that the biggest issue is not taking risk with the story. Filmmakers are not taking risk with stories. Talking to news agency ANI, the director gave two important reasons for this. He said- First of all, I would like to say that filmmakers and producers are creative people and at the same time, they are not taking risks. When it comes to storytelling, you cannot repeat old stories. You have to take some risk somewhere. He told, you need to bring new meaningful subjects, no matter which genre it is. Popular actors will have to reduce fees. In the conversation, he also pointed towards the increasing fees of actors in Bollywood. Sarkar said- ‘Some popular actors should think about their fees. Otherwise they will not get a chance. I won’t say much about actors and their fees, but one thing I am sure about is that popular actors will have to reduce their fees.’ He said, if they don’t do so, directors will stop approaching them. Sarkar also explained how his production house Rising Sun Films keeps the budget under control by working with actors who understand the importance of staying within the budget. He says, ‘This has not happened with us. Whatever films we have made, we have never let the cost of them go too high, so we have fewer complaints. We have worked with actors who understand that they are working with Shoojit Sarkar on a Rising Sun film and its cost will not be too high.’ Let us tell you that Shoojit Sarkar is known as an experimental director in the industry. He is known for films like ‘Vicky Donor’, ‘Pink’, ‘Piku’, ‘October’. Last year, his film ‘I Want to Talk’ with Abhishek Bachchan was released, the subject of which was highly appreciated.
