Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Rising North East Investors Summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. During this, he said – India is called the most diverse nation in the world. Our North East is its most diverse part. On this occasion, Mukesh Ambani made 6 promises to the Chief Ministers of the Northeast states – Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura regarding the development of the region. Gautam Adani announced an investment of Rs 50,000 crore from his group in the Northeast in the next 10 years. The summit will run for two days – Minister level session, B2G and B2B meetings The two-day summit will have minister level sessions, business to government (B2G), business to business (B2B) meetings. This summit is being organized to bring domestic and global investors on one platform for the Northeast states. There is a plan to promote investment in sectors like tourism, agriculture, food processing, health, education and energy through the summit. The growth (state GDP) in these sectors of the northeastern states was Rs 9.26 lakh crore in 2023-24. It grew at a rate of 10.8% from 2014-15 to 2021-22, while the country’s average GDP during this period was 8.1%.
