Stokes out of series against Sri Lanka due to injury: ECB appoints Ollie Pope as captain, first Test from August 21

English captain Ben Stokes is out of the entire summer season due to a hamstring injury. He will not be a part of the Test series against Sri Lanka. Vice-captain Ollie Pope will captain the English team in his place. The ECB informed on Tuesday night that 33-year-old Stokes has a hamstring strain. The scan on Tuesday revealed that he cannot take part in the 3-Test series against Sri Lanka. He is expected to return to the Test series against Pakistan. The series will begin on October 7. England will host Sri Lanka in the first Test at Emirates Old Trafford from August 21 to 25. Then there will be matches at Lord’s and the Oval.
