Wrestler Vinesh Phogat has posted an emotional post after her appeal for silver was rejected. A day earlier, on Wednesday, 14 August, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) rejected Vinesh’s petition demanding a joint silver medal in the Paris Olympics. Vinesh made it to the finals by winning 3 consecutive matches in the 50 kg women’s category of wrestling. The final was to be held on 8 August, but before the match, the Olympic Committee disqualified the wrestler as Vinesh’s weight was 100 grams more than 50 kg. Indian Olympic Association’s lawyer in CAS Vidhushpat Singhania said- ‘The detailed order has not come yet. Only a one-line order has come that Vinesh’s appeal has been rejected. The court has not given any reason why it was rejected or why they took so much time. We are both surprised and disappointed that a decision came and their appeal was rejected. We hope that the detailed order will come in 10-15 days. An appeal can be made against the CAS decision in the Swiss Federal Tribunal within 30 days. She said that she was shocked by the decision of United World Wrestling (UWW) and International Olympic Committee (IOC).
