British businessman’s yacht sinks in Italy: 1 dead, 6 missing; including Mike Lynch, known as Britain’s Bill Gates

A luxury yacht named Bayesian sank on Monday morning near Sicily Island in Italy. There were 22 people on board the 184 feet long yacht. These included 10 crew members and 12 passengers from America, Britain and Canada. The wreckage of the yacht has been identified. It was found at a depth of 50 meters in the sea. According to the New York Times, the cook deployed on the yacht has died and 6 are missing. Britain’s famous software businessman Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah are also among the missing people. Businessman Lynch’s wife Angela Backares has been rescued. She was the owner of the sunken yacht Bayesian. Morgan Stanley International President Jonathan Bloomer and his wife were also on board the yacht. They are also being searched for. An Italian coastguard official told the BBC that at 5 am, strong waves arose due to the storm, due to which the yacht sank. Some information will be available only after talking to the crew members admitted in the hospital. However, some reports say that due to the winds, one of the masts of the boat broke, due to which the balance of the yacht got disturbed and it overturned. The coastguard official said that there was another yacht from the Netherlands near the yacht which helped in saving the lives of 15 people.
