Australia’s fast bowler Mitchell Starc has said that for the first time in the last three decades, 5 Test matches will be played in the Border Gavaskar Trophy against India, making this series as important as the Ashes for his team. For the first time since 1991-92, five Test matches will be played in this series. This India-Australia series will start in the month of November. The 34-year-old fast bowler told Wide World of Sports, ‘We want to win every match on our home soil and we also know that the Indian team is very strong.’ Starc not only intends to win this series, but he also wants his team to do a clean sweep, especially when this series is a part of the World Test Championship. Australian cricketers are desperate to win the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Before Starc, Steve Smith, current captain of the team Pat Cummins, spinner Nathan Lyon and fast bowler Josh Hazlewood have given statements about the series. Everyone believes that Australia will defeat India in a Test series for the first time in 10 years. Starc’s main points… Starc will play domestic cricket for preparation
Starc will go to England for the limited overs series next month. Then he will play domestic cricket for New South Wales to prepare for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Starc is only 11 matches away from playing 100 Test matches. Australia has not been able to win the trophy for the last 10 years
Australia has not won the Border Gavaskar Trophy since 2014-15, while India has won four consecutive series during this period. India defeated Australia on its soil twice during this period in 2018-19 and 2020-21. India is currently at the top of the World Test Championship table, while Australia is at the second place.
