SC said- we don’t give decision after consulting leaders: Don’t drag the court in political fight, Telangana CM had said- Kavita’s bail is BJP-BRS deal

The Supreme Court on Thursday reprimanded Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for a statement. In fact, the Supreme Court granted bail to K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister KCR, in the Delhi liquor policy scam. Revanth had called it a deal between BRS and BJP. On this, Justice BR Gavai’s bench asked Revanth Reddy’s lawyer Mukul Rohatgi – ‘Did you read in the newspaper what he (Revanth) said? Read it.’ The court said – It is not right to drag the court into political battles. The court does not give decisions after asking the leaders. Such statements create apprehension in the minds of the people. The Supreme Court was hearing a petition seeking transfer of the case related to the 2015 cash-for-vote scam to Bhopal, in which Telangana CM Revanth Reddy is also an accused. The petition has been filed by BRS MLA Guntakandla Jagdish Reddy. The Supreme Court bench was hearing a petition filed by BRS MLA Guntakandla Jagadeesh Reddy. Jagadeesh had sought transfer of the case from Telangana to another state. The court has said that it will appoint a special public prosecutor for the case. Revanth Reddy was arrested on 31 May 2015 by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) for allegedly giving a bribe of ?50 lakh to nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson to support TDP candidate Vem Narendra Reddy in the Legislative Council elections. Revanth was then in the Telugu Desam Party. In July 2015, the ACB filed a chargesheet against Reddy and others under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Section 120B (criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
