Tamil Nadu government signs MoU with Google: Company will set up Artificial Intelligence labs in the state, 20 lakh youth will be skilled in AI

The Tamil Nadu government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google to set up artificial intelligence labs in the state. These labs will be set up under the state government’s investment promotion agency ‘Guidance’. Industries Minister TRB Raja said that the aim of these labs is to provide skills in artificial intelligence to 20 lakh youth. TRB Raja said, ‘With this partnership, our target is to make 2 million youth skilled in AI through the upskilling platform ‘Naan Mudhalvan’, collaborate with startups and enable MSME and rural economy. Stalin also visited the offices of Apple and Microsoft in San Francisco and discussed various opportunities and exciting partnerships with these tech companies. The Tamil Nadu government signed MOUs with several investors including Nokia, PayPal, Microchip and Yield Engineering Systems during CM Stalin’s visit to the US. These MOUs were signed by the state government’s investment promotion agency ‘Guidance’ in the presence of CM and Industries Minister Raja. Nokia will invest Rs 450 crore in Tamil Nadu
According to the MOUs, Nokia will build a new research and development centre in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 450 crore, creating 100 jobs. PayPal will set up an advanced development centre in Chennai, creating 1,000 jobs. Microchip will invest Rs 250 crore in Chennai
Microchip will set up a new research and development centre for semiconductor technology at a cost of Rs 250 crore in Semmancheri, Chennai, creating 1,500 jobs. Yield Engineering to create 300 jobs in Coimbatore Yield Engineering Systems will set up a product development and manufacturing facility for semiconductor equipment at Sulur in Coimbatore at a cost of Rs 150 crore, creating 300 jobs.
