South Africa has started preparations for the Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan next year. The board has rested 8 of its regular players from the big ODI tournament, while it has decided to try some new players. Cricket South Africa on Monday announced the team for the series against Afghanistan and Ireland in September-October. Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Enrique Nortya, Marco Jansen, Tabrez Shamsi, Gerald Cootzi, David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen have not been included in the teams from these series, while youngsters like all-rounder Jason Smith, Nkabayomji Peter and Andle Simele have been given a place. In this tour starting from 18 September, the African team will play 8 matches in 20 days. These include 6 ODIs and 2 T20s. The team will play a series of 3 ODIs against Afghanistan in UAE between 18 and 22 September.
