The Earth has got a small moon for about two and a half months. This will help in understanding its gravitational power better. This moon is actually an asteroid, named 2024 PT5. It was discovered on August 7. Its diameter is about 10 meters. This asteroid has been revolving in Earth’s orbit since September 9 and will continue to do so for the next 77 days i.e. till November 25. Actually, this asteroid is revolving around the Earth like the moon, hence it has been named Mini Moon. Due to its very low speed, this asteroid will not be able to complete even one revolution of the Earth in the next two months. This video explaining the path of the asteroid is being shared on social media… Asteroid will return to the Sun’s orbit from Earth’s gravity After November 25, the 2024 PT5 asteroid will be free from Earth’s gravity and return to the Sun’s orbit. Actually, while revolving around the Sun, this asteroid has reached close to the Earth. Due to this, it has started revolving around the Earth by being pulled by the gravitational force. After November 25, it will move away from the Earth and the effect of gravity on it will also end. Then it will return to the orbit of the Sun. Although many asteroids have already orbited the Earth, but 2024 PT5 will be so faint that it cannot be seen with eyes or telescopes. It can only be seen from the Advanced Observatory with 22 magnitude. Will help scientists, will give information about space. Federica Spoto, an asteroid researcher at Harvard and Smithsonian, says that 2024 PT5 will provide information about those asteroids in space, including those that sometimes collide with the Earth. Earlier in the years 1981 and 2022, the Earth also got a mini moon named 2022NX1.
