Pakistan has fired its special diplomat Asif Durrani posted in Afghanistan. According to Pakistani media house Dawn, the PAK army was not happy with Durrani’s work. According to Durrani, whatever advice he gave regarding policies for Afghanistan, the Foreign Ministry was constantly ignoring it. Pakistan started sending special diplomats to Afghanistan in June 2020. Their job was to work together with the Taliban regime and other countries present in Afghanistan. Actually, the army of NATO countries was deployed in Afghanistan then. In 2020, an agreement was signed between America and the Taliban in Doha. Under the agreement, NATO led by America was going to withdraw its army from Afghanistan. In return, the Taliban had promised that it would stop the terrorist organization Al-Qaeda from growing and work together with the Afghan government. It was only after this agreement that Pakistan sent its special diplomat to Afghanistan. At the same time, Asif Durrani was holding this post since May 2023. His job was to improve PAK-Afghan relations which had deteriorated due to the terrorist organization TTP operating from Afghanistan. Durrani is Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran
Durrani is currently also Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran. According to the report, in his 32-year career, Durrani was often seen as an outsider in Pakistan’s foreign department. This is because he reports directly to the military. In such a situation, when he was appointed in Afghanistan, he had difficulty coordinating with the foreign ministry. Durrani met the Taliban delegation in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in July. The Taliban described this meeting as positive. Durrani was against the expulsion of Afghan citizens living illegally in Pakistan. He believed that this would make the Taliban’s attitude towards Pakistan tough. Since the Taliban came to power in Afghanistan, the terrorist organization TTP has gained strength in Pakistan. Of all the terrorist organizations in Pakistan, which is called the factory of terrorism, Tehreek-e-Taliban (TTP) Pakistan is considered the most dangerous. Actually, the roots of Pakistani Taliban started taking hold at the same time when many terrorists fled from Afghanistan after the American action in 2002 and hid in the tribal areas of Pakistan. When action was started against these terrorists, there was opposition to the Pakistani Army in the Swat valley. Many rebel groups started growing in the tribal areas. In such a situation, in December 2007, 13 groups under the leadership of Baitullah Mehsud decided to join a Tehreek i.e. campaign, hence the organization was named Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan. TTP has carried out many big attacks in Pakistan so far.
