Salima Imtiaz has become the first female umpire from Pakistan to be included in the ICC umpire panel. 52-year-old Salima will umpire in the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa (Women) in Multan from 7:30 pm on Monday. Salima told PCB media – This is not just my victory, but the victory of every female cricketer and umpire of Pakistan. Salima said, ‘Ever since Kainat made her international debut, my own dream has been to represent the country at the international level. I have got opportunities with the Asian Cricket Council, but umpiring at a big level has always been my goal. Started umpiring from 2008
Salima started umpiring in the year 2008. After this, she umpired in the Women’s Asia Cup in 2022 and the Emerging Asia Cup Hong Kong in 2023. Salima has captained 22 T20 matches so far, of which 16 are on-field umpiring, while 6 matches are as a TV umpire. Daughter Kainat is an international player
Salima’s daughter Kainat plays cricket for Pakistan. In 2010, she made her debut against South Africa. Kainat has since played 40 matches for Pakistan, including 19 ODIs and 21 T20 internationals. Kainat will be in the role of commentator in the T20 series between Pakistan and South Africa.
