To investigate the viral claim, we did an open search on Google for the news related to this incident. During this, we found articles of News 18 and TV9. What was told in the articles was completely opposite to the viral claim. Screenshot of News 18’s news… News 18 had quoted Moradabad’s Railway Deputy Superintendent of Police Anil Kumar Verma in its article that this incident took place on 18 September and in this case two youths named Sandeep Chauhan and Bijendra alias Tinku have been arrested. Both are residents of Bilaspur police station area of ??Rampur district. During interrogation, both said, ‘We often used to go to the spot to drink alcohol. On the day of the accident, we were drinking alcohol sitting near the track, when we saw an iron pole lying there, we thought of stealing it, as soon as we got the chance, both of them took it and ran away. The ground was uneven, we were drunk, then while taking the pole, we heard the train horn, after which we left the pole there and ran away.’ News 18 also told in its report quoting the police that the arrested accused have no connection with any organization nor are they associated with any module. The headline of this article was – ‘It was not a conspiracy sir, we were just scared…’, Sunny-Tinku, who placed the iron pole on the railway track in Rampur, told the story, see screenshot. It was told in the news that the accused Sandeep Chauhan and Bijendra alias Tinku are drug addicts. Both had tried to steal an electric pole, but when they were crossing the track with the pole, a train came from the front. In panic, both of them left the pole there.
