Former Delhi University (DU) professor GN Saibaba (57) died at 8.30 pm on Saturday. He had undergone surgery due to a complaint of stone in the pancreas. He was suffering from post-operative problems. He was undergoing treatment at Hyderabad’s Nizam Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS). Saibaba, who was wheelchair-bound, was admitted to NIMS 10 days ago due to poor health. His colleagues said that he had a heart attack around 8 pm on Saturday night. At 8:30 pm, doctors declared him dead. In 2017, the Gadchiroli Court of Maharashtra convicted Saibaba and five other accused under UAPA and Indian Penal Code. Saibaba and four others were sentenced to life imprisonment and one to ten years imprisonment. Saibaba filed an appeal in the Bombay High Court against the decision of the Gadchiroli Court.
