Bomb threats to 27 planes today: Passengers deboarded in Udaipur; 280 flights received threats in 12 days

The series of bomb threats in domestic and international passenger flights in the country continues. On Friday, 27 flights received bomb threats. According to media reports, about 7 flights each of Indigo, Vistara and SpiceJet and 6 flights of Air India received threats. 6 out of 7 flights of Indigo that received bomb threats include 6E 2099 (Udaipur to Delhi), 6E 11 (Delhi to Istanbul), 6E 58 (Jeddah to Mumbai), 6E 17 (Mumbai to Istanbul), 6E 108 (Hyderabad to Chandigarh) and 6E 133 (Pune to Jodhpur). Flight 6E 2099 from Udaipur to Delhi received the threat 10 minutes before take-off, after which the passengers on board the plane were disembarked. The inside of the flight and the bags of the passengers were checked. When the bomb threat turned out to be false, the flight was dispatched after 3 and a half hours. In 12 days, more than 280 Indian flights have received bomb threats. Most of the threats have been given through social media. On October 23 itself, the IT Ministry held a virtual meeting with social media platforms X, Meta and airline companies regarding these threats. The government had asked the social media companies, ‘What have you done to stop the spread of these dangerous rumors? These conditions show that you are promoting crime.’ On October 21, Naidu had said that the names of those who give bomb threats in flights can be included in the ‘no fly list’. The government is planning to amend the aviation security rules and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Civil Aviation Security Act, 1982.
