In Barwani, a truck hit a cow, then overturned on a bike rider and passersby. 4 people died on the spot in the accident. The deceased include father-son, nephew and neighbor. The truck driver and his companion fled. The accident happened on Friday night around 1 o’clock in front of Higher Secondary School on the old AB Road of Sendhwa. People buried under the truck were taken out with the help of a crane. Eyewitness Shakib Sheikh said, we were returning home from the new bus stand of Sendhwa. Suddenly a speeding truck overtook us and went ahead. As soon as it reached in front of the government school, it first hit a cow. Then it overturned. All four were standing on the roadside.
All the deceased were residents of Salikala of Nagalwadi. Ringaniya Mehta and his son were on the bike. Ringaniya’s nephew Bablu and neighbor Shyamlal were standing with them on the roadside. Then the accident happened. All four used to work as laborers in a private ginning in Sendhwa. After finishing work late at night, they were returning to their village Salikala, 10 km away from the city. They died in the accident. Father-son and nephew’s last rites performed together
According to the information, the truck was going from Shahada in Maharashtra to Ludhiana in Punjab loaded with chillies. City police station has sent the bodies to the civil hospital for postmortem.
