A hearing was held in a Dhaka court on Saturday in the murder case registered against former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. According to a report in the Bangladeshi newspaper The Daily Star, the court has asked the police to file an investigation report by Monday, 28 November. This case is about the death of an 18-year-old college student in Mirpur during anti-government protests. Hasina and 23 other people have been made accused in this case. The student was killed in the action of security forces during the protests. On August 15, 2024, the brother of the deceased filed a murder case against Hasina and 23 other accused. 225 cases including murder registered against Hasina Hasina is accused of directly participating in or increasing the violence, which led to the death of the complainant’s brother. Apart from Hasina, her government also includes Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Awami League General Secretary Obedul Quader, former Law Minister Anisul Haque and former Police IG Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun. So far 225 cases have been registered against Hasina. Out of these, 194 are of murder, 16 of massacre, 3 of kidnapping, 11 of attempt to murder and 1 of attack on the program of opposition BNP party. Hasina came to India after anti-government protests. Sheikh Hasina came to India on 5 August after anti-government protests. The protesting students were protesting against reservation since June demanding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina. More than 700 people died in these protests. In fact, Dhaka High Court had issued an order on 5 June and implemented reservation in the country once again. Hasina government had earlier abolished reservation in 2018. After the court’s decision, a phase of violent protests started across the country. On 5 August, the protesters had threatened to march towards the Prime Minister’s residence. After this, Sheikh Hasina and her sister came to India. Hasina has been kept at an unknown place in India.
