On October 12, 2021, Mona Rai, who was returning from the temple, was shot at. She died 5 days after the incident during treatment. When Mona was questioned while alive, she kept repeating that she had no enmity with anyone. However, when the investigation was done, a long list of rivalries and disputes came to the fore. Before Mona could ask or understand anything, the person sitting behind on the bike started firing bullets at her. Mona fell there, soaked in blood, and on seeing them, her daughter started shuddering and screaming. Hearing the screams of the girl and the sound of bullets, the people of the neighborhood gathered. The attackers fired and ran away. Mona was moaning in pain. She was immediately taken to the nearest private hospital. The hospital people informed the police about the incident. After which a case was filed and investigation of the matter was started. Everyone was asking what kind of enmity Mona Rai, a housewife and ordinary model, must have had with someone, that she was attacked so brutally. In the attack, the bullets hit the lower part of Mona’s body, due to which her kidney was damaged. After not getting proper treatment in a private hospital, she was referred to IGIMS (Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Science), where she underwent surgery. Mona Rai alias Anita Devi, a resident of Patna, Bihar, was a housewife. She married Suman Kumar, who runs a photocopy shop, with whom she has two children Arohi and Naitik. Around the year 2012, Mona Rai met Amir Raju Builder, who lived in the neighborhood, while living in Phulwari Sharif. Raju was married and he also had a son. The meetings between the two started increasing and over time their illicit relationship started developing. After meeting Raju Builder, Mona’s lifestyle started changing. Middle class Mona had become spendthrift after meeting Raju, got her children enrolled in an expensive school and started modeling herself. In the year 2020, she also participated in the Mrs. Bihar pageant and was a top-3 finalist. Since then, she started getting many modeling projects. After joining the modeling world, she changed her name from Anita Devi to Mona Rai. Mona also participated in Miss Global Bihar, in which she got the tag of Best Eye. The increasing meetings of Mona and Raju did not remain hidden from their families for long. Both the families had objections to their illicit relationship. This was the reason why Mona’s husband Suman shifted with his family from Phulwari Sharif to Rajiv Nagar’s Basant Vihar, where Mona was murdered. The way this murder was carried out, it was clear that the shooters who fired the bullets were professionals, who were given a contract to kill, but the question was who could have given a contract to kill an ordinary model. Did Raju Builder give a contract to kill Mona to get rid of her? Did husband Suman get her killed because he was upset with Mona’s illicit relationship? It also came to light that 4 months ago Raju had bought a plot in the name of Mona in Phulwari Sharif area. Bhim Yadav’s mobile number was active in the same area a few weeks before the attack on Mona Rai. Finally, on October 25, the police arrested Bhim Yadav from Bhojpur. In the initial interrogation, Bhim Yadav kept saying that he was innocent, but when strictness was shown, he broke down. Bhim Yadav confessed in his statement to the police that he was given a contract to kill Mona Rai. He had taken the contract with his associates Shankar Kumar and Vishwakarma for Rs 5 lakh, they had received Rs 1.75 lakh as advance. He was living in a rented house in Rajiv Nagar for the past 1 month and was keeping an eye on Mona while roaming around on an Apache bike. On 12 October, as soon as they got the opportunity, both of them committed the crime. Shankar was driving the bike, while a man named Vishwakarma fired bullets at Mona. When Bhim was asked who the person who gave the contract was, everyone was surprised to hear Bhim’s statement. Actually, the conspiracy to murder Mona Rai was not hatched by Raju Builder, but by his wife Sharda Devi. A homely looking woman was the mastermind of this murder. After the confession of shooter Bhim Yadav, Patna Police announced solving the murder case through a press conference. Police revealed that Raju Builder was in a relationship with Mona Rai for the past 9 years. His family was also aware of this, due to which there used to be fights in his house every day. Raju Builder’s minor son was also angry with his father’s affair. A few months ago, when Raju bought a plot of Rs 25 lakh for Mona, his wife Sharda and son also came to know about it. She was afraid that Raju would gradually transfer everything to Mona and she would get nothing. Sharda Devi planned this murder to remove Mona from Raju’s life. To remove Mona from her path, Sharda Devi took the help of her nephew Rahul and entrusted him with the task of hiring a professional shooter for Rs 5 lakh. Rs 3 lakh was given as advance, while Rs 2 lakh was to be given after the work was done. 3 months passed, but Rahul could not do the job. Sharda, who was furious, started pressurizing him, so Rahul arranged for her to meet Sudesh, who was a resident of Ara. He seemed to be a distant relative of Sharda. Sharda gave the money given to Rahul to Sudesh. It was Sudesh who gave the contract to one of his relatives Shankar, who was a shooter. As soon as Shankar took the advance, he included his cousin Bhola and distant relative Vishwakarma in the plan. Raju builder’s minor son was also involved in this plan. He was the one who told the shooters the address of Mona’s house and showed her face. A month ago, Shankar, Bhim and Vishwakarma had rented a house in Rajiv Nagar to do recce. The month was about to end, but the three were not completing the work, in such a situation Sharda threatened them that if the work was not done soon, they would have to return the advance amount. On October 12, Shankar had gone to Ara for some work. During this time, Sharda informed him that Mona was going to the temple on the occasion of Navratri. As soon as he got the lead, he put his colleagues to work. Both the shooters were sitting outside the house in ambush, when Mona returned from the temple with her daughter. Both of them opened fire on her as soon as they got the chance. After Bhim’s arrest, Vishwakarma, the shooter who fired at Mona, surrendered, while the 5 accused named in the case are still out of police custody.
