Canada refuses to provide security to Indian Consulate camps: High Commission cancels camps, which were to be set up for the convenience of pensioners

The Indian High Commission in Canada has decided to close some consulate camps due to lack of security. The Indian Consulate General in Toronto informed about this by posting on X. The post says that the security agencies of Canada have refused to provide security to the consulate camps, so we have decided to close the camps. Actually, on September 27, the Indian Consulate General had announced to organize 14 camps in different cities of Canada for pension certificates. These camps were to be organized in Winnipeg, Brampton, Halifax and Oakville between November 2 and November 23. But now due to lack of security, some of these camps will not be organized. What is a Consulate Camp?
All the people in Canada who get pension from the Government of India have to submit life certificates. For this, camps are organized by the Indian High Commission every year in November. To help people in cities which are far from the High Commission, camps are set up in religious places like Gurudwaras and temples. For getting a certificate, one has to submit his name to the embassy a week before the camp. On November 3, this camp was set up in Hindu Sabha Mandir in Brampton. This temple is the biggest temple in Brampton and the surrounding area. Similar camps were also set up in Surrey and Calgary. Khalistanis had attacked the camp set up in the temple, police supported them. On November 3, a Khalistani mob attacked the consulate camp set up in the temple premises. Ontario’s Peel Police failed to provide protection from Khalistani attackers. A police officer was also included in the attacking mob along with Khalistan supporters. His name is being told as Harinder Sohi. Sohi is a sergeant in Peel Police. He has been suspended. Videos have also surfaced in which policemen are being strict with people from the Hindu side. In this case, we have heard from Naresh Kumar Chavda, Trustee of Sanatan Mandir Board of Directors in Canada, that the Canadian Government, State Government and Municipal Corporation, all levels of authority are responsible for the incident. Naresh says that ‘For the last four years, tension between Hindus and Sikhs is increasing. Attacks on Hindu temples are increasing continuously. In such a situation, the protest should not have been allowed. The day after the incident, Brampton Municipal Corporation banned protests near religious places. They could have done this earlier as well. Seeing all this, it seems that Hinduphobia is prevalent in Canada. Hindus are being used for political gain.’ Full timeline of tension between India and Canada
