Shiv Kumar alias Shiva, the main accused in Mumbai’s Baba Siddiqui murder case and shooter of Lawrence Bishnoi gang, has been arrested by UP STF and Mumbai Crime Branch. He was caught in Nanpara, 19 km before the Nepal border. His 4 helpers have also been arrested. Shiv Kumar was trying to flee to Nepal. Other arrested accused include Anurag Kashyap, Gyan Prakash Tripathi, Akash Srivastava, and Akhilendra Pratap Singh. All are residents of Gandara village in Bahraich. They were helping Shiv Kumar to shelter and escape to Nepal. According to the police, Shiva was involved in the murder of Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai on October 12. He was absconding since the murder, while his two accomplices have already been arrested. Shiv Kumar told during interrogation that he used to work for Lawrence gang through scrap dealer Shubham Lonkar. He was promised Rs 10 lakh for the murder of Baba Siddiqui. After the murder, Shiv Kumar fled from Mumbai and reached Bahraich via Jhansi, Lucknow and was planning to flee to Nepal. Shiv Kumar told during interrogation, ‘I and Dharmaraj Kashyap are from the same village. I used to work as a scrap dealer in Pune. My shop and Shubham Lonkar’s were next to each other. Shubham Lonkar works for Lawrence Bishnoi. He has made me talk to Lawrence’s brother Anmol Bishnoi several times through Snap Chat. Anmol had told me that I will get 10 lakh rupees in exchange for the murder of Baba Siddiqui. I will keep getting something every month as well.’ ‘The weapon, cartridges, SIM and mobile phone for the murder were given by Shubham Lonkar and Mohammad Yasin Akhtar. After the murder, the three shooters were given new SIMs and mobile phones to talk to each other. For the last several days, we were doing recce of Baba Siddiqui in Mumbai. On the night of 12 October, when we got the right opportunity, we killed Baba Siddiqui. That day was crowded due to the festival. Due to which two people were caught on the spot and I escaped. ‘ I threw the phone on the way and went from Mumbai to Pune. From there I reached Bahraich via Jhansi and Lucknow. In between, I kept talking to my colleagues and handlers by borrowing anyone’s phone. I talked to Anurag Kashyap by borrowing a phone from a passenger in the train. He said that Akhilendra, Gyan Prakash and Akash have together made arrangements to hide you in Nepal, that is why I came to Bahraich and was trying to escape to Nepal along with my colleagues. ‘ Mumbai Crime Branch arrested another shooter on Friday Crime Branch arrested another shooter in Baba Siddiqui murder case on Friday. The name of this accused shooter is Gaurav Vilas Appune (23). Gaurav Vilas was a part of Plan B of Baba Siddiqui’s murder. The crime branch said that Shubham Lonkar, the mastermind of Siddiqui’s murder, had sent accused Gaurav to Jharkhand on July 28 to practice firing along with another accused Rupesh Mohol. They were also given weapons. Both the accused returned to Pune on July 29. After returning, they contacted Shubham. The crime branch is finding out the exact place of firing practice. On Friday, the police said that out of the 18 accused arrested for carrying out the murder, 4 accused were promised several rewards including Rs 25 lakh cash, car, flat and Dubai trip. Ram Phoolchand Kanaujia (43), involved in the conspiracy, had promised this reward to Rupesh Mohol (22), Shivam Kuhad (20), Karan Salve (19) and Gaurav Appune (23). On the night of 12 October, NCP Ajit faction leader Baba Siddiqui was murdered outside his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra. Baba Siddiqui was elected MLA from Bandra 3 times on a Congress ticket.
