Home Ministry’s notice for NGOs: Said- FCRA registration will be cancelled if found involved in religious conversion, anti-development activities

The Union Home Ministry said on Monday that the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) registration of such non-governmental organizations (NGOs) which are involved in anti-development activities, religious conversion, inciting protests with malicious intent, terrorist or radical organizations will be canceled. The Home Ministry has issued a notice in this regard. The ministry said that if an NGO is not using foreign funding according to its motive and target or does not upload annual returns, then its FCRA registration will also be canceled. According to the law, all NGOs receiving foreign funding will have to register under the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. If they do not do so, they are not allowed to receive foreign funding. Not spending a minimum of Rs 15 lakh is also included in the rules for cancellation of registration

Not using foreign funding for projects as per the motive and target of the NGO, not uploading the annual return of the last 6 financial years on the site, not meeting the limit of spending a minimum of Rs 15 lakh for the welfare of the society during the last 3 financial years are included in the reasons for cancellation of FCRA registration. ……………………………………….
