Camera assistant Ajit Kumar died in an accident on the set of the popular TV show ‘Anupama’ on 14 November 2024. After this tragic incident, the show’s producer Rajan Shahi has issued an official statement. Production house statement: We, Directors Kut Production and Shahi Production Pvt Ltd, have been working in the TV industry for the last 18 years. Our team has made shows like ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, ‘Bidaai’ and ‘Anupama’. All this is the result of the hard work and dedication of more than 300 of our people. On November 14, apprentice camera assistant Ajit Kumar accidentally got an electric shock on the set of ‘Anupama’ in Film City. He had accidentally picked up the light rod and the camera together, and he was not even wearing slippers for safety. The DOP (Director of Photography) present on the set called it a ‘human error’. Ajith was rushed to the hospital immediately after the incident and was given immediate treatment, but unfortunately, we could not save him. We immediately arranged flight tickets to bring Ajith Kumar’s family from Patna to Mumbai. We took full responsibility for his hospital and medical expenses. Apart from this, we helped the family to return to Patna and also provided compensation. The insurance amount will be given to their nominee. The safety and well-being of all our team members has always been our priority. This incident is a big shock for us. We pray to God that Ajith Kumar’s soul rests in peace. Also, some people are spreading rumors about this incident. We clearly warn that if this does not stop, strict legal action will be taken against such people. We have also informed the Producers Guild of India, Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC), Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association (IMPPA), and Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) about this incident.
