Lebanon’s militant group Hezbollah is using the advanced missile Almas against Israel. The special thing is that Hezbollah has prepared this missile by reverse engineering Israel’s anti-tank missile Spike. According to the New York Times, Hezbollah seized Israel’s Spike missile in 2006 and sent it to Iran for reverse engineering. Iran reverse engineered these missiles and prepared the Almas missile and handed it over to Hezbollah. Now, 18 years later, Hezbollah is targeting Israel’s military bases, communication systems and air defense launchers with these newly made missiles. According to Israel, the Almas missile can accurately target any target up to 15 kilometers. To reduce its dependence on Iran, Hezbollah has now started the production of Almas missile in Lebanon itself. Hezbollah also has Russian missiles.
After the fighting started in Lebanon two months ago, the Israeli army has recovered a large stockpile of Hezbollah’s weapons. These include Almas missiles. The recovered weapons also include Russian Kornet anti-tank missiles. According to the Wall Street Journal, the Israeli army has found a large quantity of Russian weapons in South Lebanon.
