You have sung songs for the first time in ‘Shaktimaan Returns’, how was the experience? I was a bathroom singer. Talat Mahmood sahab has been my favorite. I have no intention of becoming a singer, but I will definitely say that I have replaced Shaan and Javed Ali in this song. No one will say that I have sung out of tune. What was the process of the song, tell us something about it? The song took 6 months to be made. Earlier I was going to do ‘Aao Bachchon Tumhein Dikhaye Jhanki Hindustan Ki’. The video was also shot, but I felt that today’s children can see everything on Google Maps. Apart from this, there was a problem regarding the rights of the song. What problem was there regarding the rights of the song? ‘Aao Bachchon Tumhein Dikhaye Jhanki Hindustan Ki’ is a song from the film ‘Jagriti’, its rights are with Saregama. When we talked to them about the rights of the song, they said that 70 percent of the profit will be their share and 30 percent will be ours. I did not like their deal. We thought that we should work on some original songs. When lyricist Deepak Tripathi wrote ‘Katha Azadi Ke Veeron Ki’, I felt that I can also sing this song. If Amitabh Bachchan sahab can sing ‘Aao Bachchon Tumko Sher Ki Kahani Sunate Hain’, then why can’t I sing. But after watching this song, people formed a different opinion. People started thinking that through this song I have come to tell who will be Shaktimaan of my film ‘Shaktimaan’? Whereas it is not so. Through ‘Shaktimaan Returns’, I have come to educate children, which Shaktimaan has been doing since the beginning. The thinking of today’s children has become very bad. An actress did not even know who had brought the Sanjivani booti. I thought that the old Shaktimaan has the right to impart education, so why not come with the element of a super teacher. ‘Katha Azadi Ke Veeron Ki’ highlights the lives of freedom fighters and their contributions. I have come to tell today’s generation that these are our real heroes. What is your ambition for the Shaktimaan film, how do you want to see the film? Every person wants a film to be made on his TV show, but I did not go to anyone to make a film. Even today, if I get permission from Doordarshan or any other channel, I can make 1000 episodes on Shaktimaan. Sony itself came to me to make the film, who have made many films like ‘Spider Man’. I had them write in the agreement that they will not change the seven ideals of Shaktimaan. The delay in starting the film is because everyone knows that I am stuck on casting. What problem is coming up with casting? I want an actor for Shaktimaan who has a gentle face. He should have the qualities of a teacher. I once jokingly said that what will Tiger Shroff be able to teach the children. The children themselves will ask him to sit with them. Ranveer Singh sat with me for three hours, but I did not see Shaktimaan in him. I believe that the person who has played the role of Alauddin Khilji, how can he become Shaktimaan. Shaktimaan is a character of the level of Ram and Krishna. It is not necessary that Shaktimaan becomes a big star.
