International fast bowler Kuldeep Sen from Rewa was bought by Punjab team in IPL 2025 auction for Rs 80 lakh and included in their team. Kuldeep’s base price in the auction was Rs 75 lakh. Kuldeep’s father Rampal Sen runs a small salon in Rewa. He says that no matter how big a position my son reaches or how much money he earns, I will not leave my work. Even though my son has joined the Punjab team for Rs 80 lakh, I still cut hair for Rs 70 and shave for Rs 50. I want to maintain my simplicity throughout my life. I want to live like a common man. He said- Kuldeep did not tell about playing cricket at home for a year. He used to leave school quietly. When he was selected for Under-19 in the district level tournament, he told at home. Rampal says that Kuldeep had to go from Rewa to Singrauli to play. He did not come and talk to me directly. He told his mother- I have to go to Singrauli to play a match, get me 500 rupees from Papa. I used to have a small barber shop. I could not earn 500 rupees in a day. Every rupee was of great importance. I thought that we send him to school to study but instead of studying, he is spending time playing. Kuldeep went to his coach Ariel Anthony to learn batting but Ariel advised him that you should bowl. Following the coach’s advice, he started bowling and became an expert in it. The coach told that Kuldeep came from a poor family. That is why he did not take fees.
