Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Naresh Balyan was arrested by Delhi Police on Saturday night. The Crime Branch Police has taken this action in the extortion case of the year 2023. He was earlier detained for questioning. On Saturday itself, the BJP had released an audio clip of MLA Balyan from Uttam Nagar assembly constituency. BJP-IT cell head Amit Malviya shared the alleged audio of Balyan and wrote, ‘Audio call of Naresh Balyan with gangsters goes viral, in which he is demanding ransom from Delhi’s builders and businessmen. Kejriwal is running a network of extortion in Delhi and then blaming BJP for the poor law and order. AAP has turned Delhi into a quagmire of corruption. Sachdeva and Bhatia raised the question that if AAP does not take action against Naresh Balyan, then it will be considered that the party is also complicit in this. Assembly elections will be held in Delhi in 2025
The current term of the Delhi Assembly is ending on 23 February 2025. The Election Commission completes the election process before the date of the end of the five-year term of the current House. The last assembly elections were held in February 2020, in which the Aam Aadmi Party won an absolute majority and won 62 out of 70 seats.
