Jaishankar said – Slight improvement in India-China relations: Troops retreated in eastern Ladakh, but dispute still remains in many areas of LAC

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Tuesday informed the Parliament on the India-China border dispute. The Foreign Minister said in the House that India and China are trying to resolve the border dispute through talks and diplomacy. Complete disengagement has been done in eastern Ladakh. However, there is still a dispute in many areas on the LAC. India’s aim is to find a solution that is acceptable to both the countries. He said, ‘India and China’s relations are not normal since 2020. The relations between the two countries are not good since the peace was disturbed on the border. However, the situation has improved somewhat due to the recent talks. ‘ The Foreign Minister said – 38 meetings were held in 2 years, talks were held at every level There was tension between India and China in eastern Ladakh over the border dispute for four years. After two years of long talks, an agreement was reached between the two countries in October this year, after which the armies of both the countries have retreated from Depsang and Demchok. According to the agreement, both the armies have returned to the earlier position from April 2020. The armies are now patrolling the same areas where they used to before April 2020. Apart from this, commander level meetings are still going on. There was tension in Depsang and Demchok since the Galwan clash between Indo-Chinese soldiers in 2020. After about 4 years, a new patrolling agreement was signed between the two countries on 21 October. Foreign Minister S Jaishankar had said that its purpose is to prevent clashes like Galwan in Ladakh and create the situation like before. There was a clash between the Chinese and Indian armies in Galwan in 2020. In Geneva, the Foreign Minister had said – 75% solution to the dispute with China Foreign Minister Jaishankar had said on September 12 during a summit in the Swiss city of Geneva that 75% of the dispute with China has been resolved. The Foreign Minister also said that the issue of increasing militarization on the border is still serious. Jaishankar said that the clash between China and India in Galwan in 2020 badly affected the relations between the two countries.
