Team India captain Rohit Sharma has ended the suspense of the Indian opening pair a day before the Adelaide Test. He said- ‘I will bat in the middle order and KL Rahul will open.’ The 37-year-old Indian captain is making a comeback from the match starting on 6 December. He was on paternity leave and could not play in the Perth Test. In his absence, KL Rahul opened with Yashasvi Jaiswal. He scored 77 runs in the second innings and also made a record opening partnership of 201 runs. After this, many cricket experts including Cheteshwar Pujara and Ravi Shastri had talked about making Rahul open the innings. The Indian team is leading 1-0 in the 5-match series. India won the Perth Test by 295 runs. Rohit said- It is not right to change the pair of Perth Test, we want result and success. I was at home. It was good to see Rahul batting. The way Rahul has batted abroad, he has become entitled to open. In Perth, you make such a big partnership with Yashasvi… if close to 500 runs are scored, then it is not right to change that pair. It was a difficult decision for me personally, but an easy decision for the team. I want to enjoy the pink ball test Rohit said on playing in the middle order in the practice match, it was a practice match, I am not paying much attention to it. I just wanted to get the experience of the pink ball. Rohit praised Rana and Reddy Rohit praised Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy. He said- ‘Looking at Harshit and Nitish, it did not seem that this was their first match. Their body language looked great. When you want to win a big series, you need these players. It was a difficult decision to keep Ashwin and Jadeja out. On the question of Ashwin and Jadeja, Rohit said- ‘It is very difficult to keep them out. Both of them are better players and hopefully they will play a big role in the upcoming matches in the series.’ Adelaide Test from 6 December
