According to the IT Act 2000 in India, if anyone publishes, uploads or shares child sexually exploited material or cooperates in doing so, then there is a provision of 5 years imprisonment and a fine of 10 lakhs under Section 67-B. There is a provision of 7 years imprisonment and a fine of 10 lakhs for committing the same crime for the second time. According to the Act, browsing, downloading, storing child exploited material in electronic gadgets (mobile, laptop, tablet) is also considered a serious crime. At the same time, the Indian Supreme Court had said in 2024 that downloading and watching child exploited material is a crime under POCSO and IT Act.
