The troubles of former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina are not ending. Mohammad Yunus’ government is constantly making new allegations against her. Now the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in Bangladesh has started an investigation against Hasina and her family for embezzlement of about Rs 42,600 crore (5 billion dollars). According to the Dhaka Tribune, Hasina is accused of embezzling this money in a nuclear power plant designed by Russia in Ruppur, 160 km from the capital Dhaka. Indian companies also have a stake in this plant being built by Russia’s state-owned company Rosatom. Accused of transferring the embezzled amount to Malaysia
The decision to start an investigation against Hasina was taken when the Bangladeshi High Court asked the ACC a few days ago why your inaction in this matter should not be declared illegal? Sheikh Hasina, her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, sister Rehana and niece Tulip Siddique have been made accused in this case. It is alleged that they had transferred the embezzled amount to a Malaysian bank. According to media reports, Tulip Siddiq, Sheikh Rehana and others received 30% of the money laundering amount as commission. Sheikh Hasina currently lives in India, while her son is in the US and her niece is in Britain. However, there is no confirmed information about Sheikh Rehana yet. Sajeeb Wazed said – Political persecution is happening in Bangladesh Earlier, Bangladesh on Monday demanded the return of Sheikh Hasina from India. Bangladesh’s foreign advisor Tauheed Hussain has also sent a letter regarding this. Tauheed Hussain says that the Bangladesh government wants the former Prime Minister back to face the law. On this demand, Sheikh Hasina’s son Sajeeb Wazed slammed the Yunus government. He wrote on X – The judges and prosecutors appointed by the Yunus government have started a mock trial through the International Criminal Tribunal, which is a political persecution. It circumvents justice and promotes attacks on Awami League leaders. First Bangladesh’s Kangaroo Court and now this demand for deportation, that too at a time when hundreds of leaders and activists are being killed illegally. They are being accused of murder, thousands of people are being imprisoned illegally. We reiterate that every incident of human rights violation between July and August should be investigated independently and impartially, but this government has turned the court into a weapon. We have no faith in this justice system at all. More than 225 cases against Sheikh Hasina so far The Yunus government formed after the coup in Bangladesh has registered more than 225 cases against Hasina, ranging from murder, kidnapping to treason. At the same time, the Bangladeshi government has warned that the statements being given by Hasina while staying in India are spoiling the relations between the two countries. Movement against reservation had led to coup. On 5 June, the High Court in Bangladesh implemented 30% quota system in jobs, since then university students in Dhaka were protesting. This reservation was being given to the families of freedom fighters. When this reservation was abolished, students started demanding resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Soon, a large number of students and common people came on the road against the Prime Minister and her government. Two months after this protest, on 5 August, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and came to India. After this, the army took over the command of the country. —————————————————- Read this news too… Bangladesh demands from India – send back Sheikh Hasina: 225 cases including kidnapping and treason against former PM; took refuge in India after the coup.
