Cylinder has not been filled for two years
Sushila’s father Ratan Meena works as a labourer in Ahmedabad. Earlier mother Shanti Bai also used to work as a labourer. Now she takes care of the house for the education of the children. Ratan told that in 2017, he got a small plot in the village under the Pradhan Mantri Gramin Awas Yojana. After the first installment, he could not get the house work completed. The 80,000 rupees received under the scheme were spent on wife’s illness. Bought a bike. Two months’ installment of that is also pending. Got a gas stove and LPG connection from the government. Have not refilled the cylinder for the last two years. Shanti cooks food on the stove only. Shanti told that after Sushila’s video came out, so many guests came on Sunday that sugar and milk finished. The house in which they are living is made of thatch and straw. Sushila lives in this house with her parents and two brothers Ravindra and Jitendra. Ratan says that even free electricity is of no use, because there is very little light in the village. There is neither a TV nor any other facility in the house. The three siblings use emergency light for studies. Ratan said that I do not even have money to buy cricket equipment for my daughter. Bhamashah is helping now, so I hope my daughter will be able to move forward. Many big people are talking to Sushila on the phone or coming to meet her, but till now no one has shown the spirit of helping. The school does not even have money to buy a leather ball. The primary school in the village where Sushila studies has neither a ground nor any playing facility. The cricket equipment has also been bought for Sushila by her teacher Ishwarlal. The place where Sushila is seen bowling in the viral video is the school compound. Earlier, Sushila used to practice by making a wicket with coal on the wall here. After getting the kit, she started bowling in front of the wicket. There were 9 teachers in the dilapidated school. A few months ago, four teachers were transferred together. Since then, no teacher has come. All the children of the school are dependent on five teachers. Ishwar makes the children practice after school. Since leather ball is expensive, she practices with a tennis ball. Not only in the school, but in the entire village and Dhariyavad, there is no ground for children to play. Government officials, politicians of Pratapgarh and Dhariyavad and Pratapgarh MLA Revenue Minister Hemant Meena also came to meet Sushila. Sushila told that she became fond of cricket three-four years ago. Her uncle’s daughter Renuka Meena also went viral some time ago while batting like this. Now she is training in Jaipur. Sushila’s mother Shanti Bai herself has studied till 5th standard. She got married at the age of 20. Today she has three children. Hearing the praises received by Sushila, she says- whatever happens, I will educate my daughter and take her forward in sports. I will make every effort so that my daughter’s dream of becoming a cricketer can be fulfilled. Sushila’s grandmother Sukhmi said- at our age we were allowed to go out of the house, that was enough. Today my two granddaughters are playing cricket, it is a big thing. My only wish is that they play well and bring glory to their name. How can daughters go to play 60 km away?
Revenue Minister Hemant Meena reached Sushila’s house on Sunday and met her. Bhaskar reporter asked him about developing sports facilities and grounds in the village.
