WHO chief Tedros Adhanom narrowly escaped an Israeli attack on the airport in Yemen’s capital Sana’a on Thursday. Tedros was about to leave the airport a short while later when this attack took place from Israel. One of the crew of the plane has been injured in the attack. Apart from this, two other people have died. Tedros posted on X and informed about this attack. He wrote that the airport was bombed 2 hours before we were about to board the plane. The runway has been damaged in the attack. Tedros and his colleagues will have to wait till the runway is repaired. He also expressed grief for the people killed in the attack. The Israel Defense Force (IDF) carried out airstrikes on Thursday targeting the hideouts of Houthi rebels in Yemen. The IDF claimed that it had targeted the military bases of the Houthis in this airstrike. This includes Sana’a International Airport, Hejaz and Ras Kanetib power stations and Al Hudaydah, Salif and Ras Kanetib ports. 25 aircraft were used for the airstrike. Apart from fighter jets, these also included refueling planes and spy planes. 6 people have died in these attacks. On the other hand, Houthi rebels are also continuously targeting Israel. Guterres said that ordinary citizens and helpers should not be targeted. Guterres has expressed concern about the Israeli attacks on Sanaa airport, ports in the Red Sea and power plants.
