The Tata Group is planning to create more than 5 lakh new manufacturing jobs from its projects in the next five years. Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran has given this information to the group’s employees in a New Year message. N Chandrasekaran said in his letter, ‘Our group is planning to create 5,00,000 manufacturing jobs in the next half decade.’ Chandrasekaran said that these jobs will be generated from investments made in the group’s factories and projects across India. This investment will produce new-age products like batteries, semiconductors, electric vehicles, solar equipment and other critical hardware.’ Tata Group will also create jobs in other sectors including retail, tech services Apart from these manufacturing jobs, the group will also create jobs in other sectors including its retail, tech services, airlines and hospitality industry. Chandrasekaran also spoke about the group’s initiatives in the artificial intelligence sector. Construction of more than seven new manufacturing plants has begun, including India’s first semiconductor plant in Dholera, Gujarat and a new semiconductor OSAT plant in Assam, an electronics assembly plant in Narsapura, Karnataka, an automotive plant in Panpakkam, Tamil Nadu and a new MRO plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka. He said the Tata Group will also set up new battery cell manufacturing factories in Sanand, Gujarat and Somerset, UK. The group has inaugurated the C295 Final Assembly Line (FAL) in Vadodara, Gujarat and started solar module production in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu. The Tata Sons chairman expressed excitement over the opportunities that lie ahead in artificial intelligence (AI) and the manufacturing sector.
