Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal’s debut film ‘Girls Will Be Girls’ has recently been released on the OTT platform. There are some intimate scenes in this film, which are attracting the attention of the audience. Recently, while talking to Dainik Bhaskar, the lead actress of the film Preeti Panigrahi told that initially her parents were a little worried about these scenes. However, when they saw the film on screen, they became completely happy. Explained to mom and dad that most of the crew are women Preeti says, ‘When I told my parents about the intimate scenes of the film, initially they were a little worried. Papa asked me – you knew everything beforehand, right? Is it that something else will be told later? I explained to them that these scenes are not mine, but part of my character. Complete safety will be taken care of on the set, especially because most of the crew were women, like DOP and editor. My sister also explained to mom and dad. When mom and dad came to the set and saw the professional atmosphere, they became completely comfortable. Now their happiness knows no bounds. After the film was released, Papa watched it four times and tells everyone to watch his daughter’s film. Seeing his happiness, I feel that I took the right decision.’ Initially, I did not know anything about the film. Let us tell you, this is Preeti’s debut film. Talking about the process of getting the film, she further said, ‘When I finished college, a friend of mine who was doing an internship with a casting director gave me an audition for this project. He said – I have seen some of your ads, you send your introduction. In the audition, I had to answer some questions, like – how were you a student in school? Or tell an interesting story. I recorded my introduction in front of the camera and sent it. After this, I was sent two parts of the script, which I recorded with changes and then sent back. After some time, I got a message from casting director Dilip Shankar sir that my audition was good. Till that time I did not know who was behind this project, who is the director, or what is the story. Then sir told me that the director is Shuchi Talati and she sent the script. I live with my parents, but am independent Preeti further said, ‘When I met director Shuchi Talati, she asked me, how independent are you and can you take your own decisions? I told her that I have just left college, I live with my parents, but yes, I am independent. After this, she told me that there will be some intimate scenes in the film. Hearing this, I read the script and showed it to my mother and sister. I liked the script very much, and after seeing Richa Chadha, I was completely confident that this project is in the right hands. If I have any doubt about anything, I take advice from Richa-Ali On the experience of working with Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal, Preeti said, ‘Richa and Ali are not only good actors but also great producers. She always selects strong and impactful projects. During the shoot, she had complete faith in us and cleared all the decisions through the director so that we did not face any problems. After the film was over, when we went to Sundance and other festivals, Richa and Ali remained associated with us. Even today, if I have any doubts about a project, I consult her.
