The price of domestic veg thali increased by 6% in December: the effect of increasing prices of potatoes and tomatoes; non-veg thali became 12% more expensive on an annual basis

The price of a domestic vegetarian thali in India increased by 6% to Rs 31.60 in December (on an annual basis). The price of a veg thali was Rs 29.70 in December 2023. Capital market company Crisil gave this information in its monthly indicator of food plate cost released. Crisil said in its ‘RRR: Rice Roti Rate’ report that the price of vegetarian thali has decreased by 3% in December as compared to November. The price of veg thali was Rs 32.70 in November. Non-veg thali 12% expensive The price of non-veg thali increased by 12% to Rs 63.30 in December on an annual basis. The price of non-veg thali was Rs 56.40 in December 2023 last year. On a monthly basis i.e. in December as compared to November, the price of non-veg thali has increased by 3%. The price of non-veg thali was only Rs.61.50 in November. The prices of potato and tomato increased the price of veg thali. According to the Crisil report, the cost of veg thali has increased due to the increase in the prices of potato and tomato. Potato and tomato have a 24% share in the cost of veg thali. On a yearly basis, the price of potato has increased by 50% and that of tomato by 24%. Vegetable oil has also increased by 16% on a yearly basis. LPG cylinder has become cheaper by 11%. The price of non-veg thali has increased due to the increase in the price of chicken. This increase in the price of non-veg thali has come due to the 20% increase in the price of broilers i.e. chicken on a yearly basis. Broilers account for 50% in the cost of non-veg thali.
