Madhuri wanted to work in Hum Saath Saath Hain: Sooraj Barjatya said- I was not comfortable in taking Salman’s sister-in-law’s role, Rishi Kapoor had also rejected the film

The multi-starrer film Hum Saath Saath Hain released in 1999 was a blockbuster. Madhuri Dixit also wanted to work in this film, but Sooraj Barjatya cast Tabu instead of her. Now he has told the reason for not taking Madhuri in the film. If the director is to be believed, he did not want Madhuri to play the role of Salman Khan’s sister-in-law in the film. Recently, Sooraj Barjatya told the reason for not taking Madhuri Dixit in Hum Saath Saath Hain in an interview given to Radio Nasha. He said, the truth is that I got a call from Madhuri. She said that she would do this film. I told Madhuri that I am making a male dominated film for the first time. If I cast you opposite Salman, the role is small and if I cast you with Mohnish Bahl, then you will become Salman’s sister-in-law. She is such a wonderful person that she told me that it does not matter. I would have loved to work with her. But I said that I would not be comfortable doing this. Talking about the casting of Hum Saath Saath, Sooraj Barjatya further said, Salman was a star at that time. If I had cast Madhuri opposite him, would the public have accepted her as Bhabhi? So we cast Tabu. Tabu had an image. Before Sonali Bendre, Raveena Tandon was offered the role. The first offer to play the role of Preeti in the film Hum Saath Saath Hain was given to Raveena Tandon. However, Raveena did not want to do a multi-starrer film at that time. So, Sonali Bendre was cast later. Before Mohnish Bahl, Vivek’s role was offered to Anil Kapoor and later to Rishi Kapoor. Both rejected the role, then Mohnish came on board. For the role of Vivek’s wife Sadhna, first Madhuri Dixit and then Manisha Koirala’s names were discussed. Director Sooraj Barjatya did not want to give Madhuri the role of Salman’s Bhabhi, because before this they have appeared together in Hum Aapke Hain Kaun. On the other hand, Manisha Koirala turned down the film as she was busy shooting for the film Mann. Let us tell you that after the role of Vivek, the role of Anand was also going to be given to Rishi Kapoor, but he turned down this role too. Later, this role was played by Mahesh Thakur.
